Ushers Wife Stable After Surgery Complications

When Usher canceled his scheduled performance at Clive Davis' annual pre-Grammy party on Saturday night, host Davis told the crowd that it was due to an unspecified "family emergency."

On Monday (February 9), Usher's spokesperson released a statement that shed a bit more light on the condition of the singer's wife, Tameka Foster, 37, who gave birth to the couple's second child, Naviyd Ely Raymond, in December.

"Tameka Foster is in stable condition after suffering complications from routine surgery in Brazil," read the statement, which did not specify what kind of surgery Foster had or why it took place in Brazil. "Her husband, Usher, is with her at the hospital. No further details will be released, and the family requests privacy at this difficult time."

On Sunday, "Access Hollywood" reported that Foster, 37, was suffering complications from plastic surgery and that a neurosurgeon from Los Angeles' Cedars-Sinai Medical Center was on his way to assist her.

Josh Groban filled in for Usher at the Davis event. Usher, 30, and Foster were married in August 2007, three months before the birth of their first child, Usher Raymond V. The couple attended MTV's Youth Ball during the inauguration of President Obama, and during the course of the night, Foster could often be seen off to the side looking lovingly at her husband as he performed his duties as one of the event's guest correspondents.

Though the couple have not made many public statements about the birth of their second child, Usher told MTV at the inauguration that "I would never miss any of my children being born."
