Sources say that Dr.Dre’s detox will be officially released in June 2008 but before you think “yeah I’ve heard that a thousand times”
Dr. Dre is eyeing 2008 for his first album in seven years, "Detox," but says the project will be his last. "I think it's time to move on," he tells the Los Angeles Times, calling rhyming "a young man's game."
"Dre has very high standards," Elizondo said. "He wants to shock the world and put something out that no one would have ever thought possible from a hip-hop artist. He's definitely going to take his time and make sure it's right."
Dre is a perfectionist and has had history of long gaps between albums. Chronic in ‘93 // Aftermath in ‘96 // Chronic 2001 in ‘99
In September 2007 was slated as an official release date this year. Given that sources have informed us that there are more artists that Dre wants to record with it, (currently Dr.dre is working closely with Lil’ Wayne in the studio) only seems right that the Aftermath general would work on recording for another 3-5 months then finalize his production and post-production in the following 2-3 month period after.
The following artists have stated in very recent times that they have infact worked on Detox with Dre in preparation for the upcoming release: Eminem, Bishop Lamont, Lil’ Wayne, Jay-Z, 50 Cent, Knoc-turn’al, Snoop Dogg, The Game, Devin Tha Dude and Busta Rhymes. Thats alot of artists to record for an album and this is probably half the list…
However, there is new business to report. Dre recently inked a multi-year production pact with New Line Cinema, under which he will join longtime collaborator, director Phillip G. Atwelll, to score and possibly direct films. |
