Jermaine Jumpp and Michael C. Adams of New Jersey are suing Jay-Z and Mary J. Blige for allegedly stealing a beat they produced.
According to TMZ.com, Jumpp and Adams claim in a federal lawsuit that they handed a CD to the "office" of producer Rodney "Darkchild" Jerkins with a song titled "On My Grind."
Four years later, Blige recorded her hit song "Enough Cryin'," produced by Jerkins, which Jumpp and Adams contend sound too similar to their song.

According to several reports, Hosea Thomas, the man responsible for the death of Atlanta rapper T.I.'s friend Philant "Big Phil" Johnson, has been sentenced to 66 years in prison.
Thomas was found guilty of felonious assault and illegal possession of a firearm after a felony conviction late last month and received his sentencing today.

Mos Def has recently received an early Christmas present from his own lawyers, yet it’s a good bet that he likely won’t enjoy it.
According to StarPulse.com, the Philadelphia-based legal firm Blank Rome, who represented and aided Mos Def in his 2006 divorce with his then-wife Maria Yepes, has filed a lawsuit against the rapper/actor. T.I. has had a successful year but one also filled with a variety of obstacles. 2008, which saw the Atlanta emcee drop one of the most notable albums of the year, will be followed by a trying 2009. T.I. may have to serve time in jail in March.

The FBI arrested DMX (government name, Earl Simmons) in Miami earlier today. As reported on HipHopDX, Judge Michael Kemp issued a bench warrant for DMX and raised his bond to $120,000 after the rapper failed to appear for his second appointed court hearing December 5.
